ya know, in my honest opinion next to John Carpenter’s classic, this is probably the best of the Halloween franchise. mostly because it’s treated like an anthology. and NO Michael Myers. yea a Horror sequel that tries new things. don’t see that ever. in my opinion this film made itself a classic when the Killer Masks came into play, violently killing kids. hell just killing kids was something to behold in a horror film. kids always got away. not this time. this title goes for the jugular and hits it where it hurts. multiple stories, none of which follow Michael Myers. every story follows a certain line that ultimately leads to a shocking end. again, this would have probably done the series much better in ratings if this was the formula for a few more movies before ultimately bring Myers back at the end of one short film to further hint that the OG Halloween story was to continue. but no, people felt the need to hate, and demand a TRUE Halloween 3. which became Halloween 4.. and slowly the series faded into obscurity.
but anyway, next to the classic and it’s sequel, Halloween III stands as one of my favourite all time Horror films of all time. new, refreshing, ballsy, and more than scary enough to further destroy a goodnight’s sleep of any child with an imagination wild enough.
my top 10 records that define the month of december.
despite their release date, or genre, these records have long since, or just recently, burned an ever loving sense of cold weather and the approaching holiday into my mind. 1. is OF CORSE the ever loving and damned classic record spun and scored by the man, Danny Elfman. For Tim’s Burton’s instant classic, A Nightmare Before Christmas. since i was even able to really form a full & correct sentence, the movies and it’s soundtrack have wrung in the times of costumes, and family together-ness around a christmas tree. though sometimes somber, the soundtrack has a very split personality, some half is more the halloween spirited, while another half spills christmas to the canvas. and it’s always a constant listen throughout the month. 2. is one of my favourite records of all time.. Screamworks: Love In Theory & Practice, Chapters 1 -13 has since it’s snowbound release in february 2010 put the idea of the deads of winter into my mind. with it’s angelic piano pings, and cold vocals the record truly speaks for itself when it comes to quality. songs like Acoustic Funeral (For Love In Limbo), The Arms Of Rain, Ode To Solitude, Scared To Death, Love The Hardest Way, and The Foreboding Sense Of Impending Happiness (ok most of the songs) really set the mood for the stale and frozen air, with a scented winter mat of snow. it’s hard to listen to the record and not have my hands freeze. 3. is my favourite record from the band From First To Last, and is in my opinion their best record. this record really encapsulates the dead of the month, with a dark, somber and mild tempered personality HEROINE strikes the chords of a lonely times alone with some cigarettes. or as i remember Silent Hill : Homecoming (this record basically soundtracked my time with the game). despite it’s dark demeanor and yet sad lyrics the record does it’s job in truly bringing out the character in december, and it’s neighboring months. 4. is a bit of a newer record to strike december into my heart, from it’s subtle intro to it’s almost cuddly sound Huckleberry Cherry and Boules from Gregory & The Hawk has a happier and somewhat introverted romantic spin to it’s cold month soundtracking. even for the single hearted, it’s still a giant grin maker. makes ya happy. and for a december record, not only is that rare, it’s also quite welcoming. especially after a long day at work. 5. is another new one, EXILE by HURTS with it’s cold sound and catchy yet somber content EXILE as a whole is very much a december night’s soundtrack. matching the blistering winds, and coveted warmth of a house and coffee, Exile really brings in the echoing dead of night with catchy choruses and dancy beats. 6. is an oldie, Let Love In by The Goo Goo Dolls was a break up record at first, but then it turned into more of a counseling record. coaxing and assuring at every track, just in time to wear a real smile on christmas day! this record and i go WAAAYY back (clearly) and from it’s humble somber beginnings, to it’s winter harmonizing present day achievement this record rings in the happiness through similarity, and brings in the closure just in time for when it really counts. great record! 7. AH NUMBER 7, The Cure’s definitive record Disintegration, the ever mixtape gracing, bad night blasting, chill time tracking record of generations! Disintegration wrings in a beautiful calm snow covered day with much to swoon over, together or alone this record can be (and has been enjoyed) on the best and worst of nights. including christmas night itself. as dawn begins to shrill into the early hours, and the album’s closing track Untitled finishes it’s last ring, the excitement of the record starting over coinciding with the christmas morning excitement brings back such memories! while some may see this as a somber album, i see it as the perfect december record, filled to the brim with love, sadness, and pure coldened emotion with millions of hearts captured in a hour and twelve minute masterpiece. 8. is another great one, with songs like Animal, Helpless, 1983, Your Surrender, & Girls & Boys In School, Neon Trees’ debut record really brings out the happy and good feelings, with an indie pop coat, and a rock sweater to it’s layers HABITS is one of the livelier records with so much character and heart in the songs that made it what it is today! Animal always reminds me of running home from a certain event in early december, filled with random and a bit of a trashy ending, but still great! 9. another legendary record, Peter Gabriel’s record SO is one that has captured minds and hearts for ages, yet to this day i dust off it’s record from my mum’s personal collection and give it a spin and let it take me on my own legendary thought provoking adventure through lord knows where in my mind. yet coming out of the record it still beams a december feeling with it’s spiritual sound and feeling. SO will always go down as on of the forever cemented records in december’s icy roads. Last but certainly NOT LEAST, The Rasmus, Dead Letters. another somber title filled with heart wrenching tracks of love, misunderstanding, hate, and strait up sadness always seems to put me into the christmas spirit (pretty sad huh?) well in my defense i received this record for christmas in 2005, despite having a good half of it on my phone. Dead Letters and it’s mostly somber and relatable tunes always seem to put christmas and the dead of winter in my mind even in the 9th circle of summer, it will forever remain an all time favourite, and a december record for times to come.
this was my top 10 records of december, if you haven’t listened to, or heard of any of these bands & artists i suggest you do soon! you may find your next favourite band, or song that makes your december an memorable one!
thank you all for following my blog! more reviews, and maybe a few videos soon! :D
Later… When The TV Turns To Static is a beautifully somber and uplifting record by the band Glasvegas. from it’s radio friendly hit IF, to it’s personal hits Choices, I’d Rather Be Dead (Than Be With You), and Neon Bedroom the record brings out flashes of the charismatic U2 album The Joshua Tree, as well as a personal twist on rock and alternative music respectively. this record was an under the radar purchase after hearing the single IF playing an AMC theater, what i came to found was beautiful and bleak record stained in black and white with the wounds of someone whose had their life thrown about, romantic yet bleak. the record brings out a certain perspective in anyone who truly listens to it with a heart & mind truly open and maybe as wounded as the record shows off. beautiful tunes with the conception of hope and yet doubt. I found much to love with this record with it’s lyrics, and equally as beautiful sonic composition, it reminds me of a diary with music to it in many ways. After the regualr album had dried up the river of taste i had acquired after many listens i bought the deluxe version of the record, accompanied with two bonus tracks came 5 Boden Session tracks which are stripped down versions of some of the songs on the record, IF being my favourite due to it’s almost completely NEW sound to it with only a piano backing the scarred vocals leading the song through the staled air.
i love this record, maybe a little too much. it’s great in so many ways it’s crazy. buy this record for sure! 5 out of 5, and on my top 30 albums list of 2013.
PROTEST THE HERO : VOLITION
how could i put into words the greatness of this record ? fuck. there we go.
Volition the new record from Protest The Hero follows in past album’s footsteps as being beautiful and amazing. having being a somewhat new-ish fan to this band’s music i’ve been falling in love with their record Fortress, then when this came across my eye i thought “may as well”. from track 1 Clarity, to track 11 Skies i was beyond impressed by both myself and the band. i was impressed just how much i was bobbing my head, and how much i was really enjoying myself. the record has so much power and charisma flowing through it’s well played veins. Tilting Against Windmills is my absolute favourite track off this record, with Underbite following in a close second! my least favourite track.. well i guess none. i like all the songs a certain way. the most powerful track on this record is without a doubt SKIES, with how it starts with Rody’s beautiful voice calmed and toned, and then how it ends the very same peaceful calmed tone winding the record’s sugar rush to a stop.
this record left me speechless in many ways, since i’m not too big a proprietor of this type of music i give the band a lot of credit for being able to sink me into their abode and letting me watch their transformation through-out this record. very, very enjoyable. extremely well EVERYTHING. and a 5 out of 5 release for sure!
”” after a few months of sitting in my iTunes i decide to give this album a try before i deleted it. little to my knowledge i was sitting on a beautiful and charismatic album. one of the most charismatic albums of 2013. Bad Blood is a visual strung out masterpiece with highs and lows flowing through a dreamy almost other worldly soundtrack to a dream you may have had at some point in your life. with beautiful songs like Overjoyed, Durban Skies, Flaws, Laughter Lines, Icarus, and The Weight Of Living Part II the album packs a sledge hammer of inspiration and thought provoking tunes composed with the very stilled air of nothing-ness. Oblivion amongst a few others are one of the softer songs that feels like the next big Love Song and it’s got quite a newer life to it than some of the other tracks. not too much to complain about with this record i love most of it, a few tracks fell off, most of which were some of the popular singles, like Bad Blood, and Pompeii. while good songs, just ones that are simply over powered by songs mentioned above. so a beautiful, charismatic, visually and mentally appealing record.. an obvious 5 out of 5 record. top 5 albums of 2013 worthy for sure. “” - original review.
i’m back with Bastille’s record Bad Blood, in it’s new incarnation entitled ALL THIS BΔD BLOOD. this version of the record comes with all the bonus tracks and b-sides released on alternate editions of the record, as well as some brand spankin’ new tracks. the track-list is below! the new tracks are in favour of the album’s original longevity to the ears, especially Of The Night, What Would You Do, Skulls Tuning Out… , the song The Draw is ok but it feels like a background song mostly. overall this re-release is quite good, and it feels nice to have everything all in one package, this version will take the original’s place in my top albums of 2013 just because of it’s added life with great new songs! 5 out of 5!

the GazettE is a Japanese visual kei rock band from Kanagawa, and they recently released their newest record titled Beautiful Deformity. now i had heard of these guys ages ago, but never took it to the next step and actually downloaded their works, until yesterday when i heard Chizuru again. i ended up falling in love with their sound all over again, so strait to iTunes i went. downloaded america’s available albums from them (which is not a lot sadly) and then i went to VUZE got their discography. but anyway, This record is a damn great one! i’m sure other people feel differently because i have seen a share of negativity towards this record.. for what i don’t know because i find this record near perfect with many songs to enjoy, the heavy, the light, it’s all good to me.
songs like : The Stupid Tiny Insect, In Blossom, Inside Beast, Until It Burns Out, Redo, Last Heaven, and Devouring Everything are my over all favourites, which is pretty much a half of the record, since this version is only 14 tracks long. there are a few songs i just dont like: Lost, To Dazzling Darkness, & Fadelss, not that i find these tracks BAD, just not in my favouring tastes. the rest of the record is great and has lots to like about it! i’m going to break the mold with this record, and it will be featured on my top 30 albums of 2013! a very 5 out of 5 release!
so i feel like ripping this game a new ass hole due to completing it for the 2nd just to see if it was as bad as i remembered it.. and well.. it’s still shit.
t’s a nice looking game, that;s pretty much it. shitty story, music, voice acting, etc.
a story being EASY TO FOLLOW isn’t always a good thing.. when it comes to Metroid yes most plot’s are pretty strait forward, but Other M was more like a collage of bad ideas and “oh old-school fans would like this” plastered in with an over-all non metroid perspective. The story treats Samus like an annoyance, when by the time Prime being Cannon (or not) Samus has done enough to be the most respected bounty hunter in the galaxy yet (again) she’s treated like the new kid, as she’s done nothing. another downfall as well.. Ridley. seriously… a white fur-ball ? a Xenomorph (ALIEN) approach would’ve been better than that, not by carbon copy but maybe similarities.. but a small white fuzz ball ? and cmon they rip bosses and enemies from different games and over-all downgrade them to a T. Ridley especially. we’re talking about a creature that was intelligent, he lead space pirates and took orders from mother brain.. yet all he did was ROOOOOAAAAARR right at samus.. Prime Ridley would’ve been doing work from the get go. it’s the basic elements that made this game a failure. and i don’t know anyone that thought making an AI Mother Brain look like a damn J-pop star was a good idea.. seriously i don’t know what to complement the game on aside from it’s visuals. that’s pretty much it.. and i can’t even give that too BIG of a praise, this is probably the worst looking power suit yet. personally i never played a BAD Metroid game since this title. plus moving Samus in a 3D environment with a D-pad was uncomfortable and being locked in a FPS mode not being able to move is the furthest thing from GOOD gameplay. this game is more than worthy of the flak it’s received, and not even on a cult status would this game ever be revered as a “good title”.
if Nintendo seriously considered to have this title be canon over the Prime series then it’s clear that Nintendo is starting to lose it’s sense of management.
need i go further into this dark and dank cave of fuck-ness ? need i ? i think i’ve proven and shown more than enough info for people to realize “oh gee.. that sounds plausible”. now i’m not hating on those who enjoy speed running, or taking their daily stroll through the title, no. we all have our moments of enjoyment. what i’m getting at is this.. what is there to defend this title with ? no notable music, horrible voice acting, re-hashes (and un-needed) bosses, shittier than shit fuck story-line, AND (this really pissed me off) again the MUSIC. where in the un-holy shit did the item fan-fare go ? in this title we get a generic as all hell sound.. KLUNK.. oh joy. if i needed to erase a game from existence as well as the memory of said game it’d be THIS. i LOVE Metroid to no end but playing this game made me want to pick a ZELDA CDI title and order a salad with a side of rancid 9 week old cheese.. yea.. i hate it that much..
but anyway before i repeat myself more, that’s it. if you agree, disagree, wish to tell me how alike you feel, or how you think im a pompous fuck who knows nothing about gaming please message me, i’d like a good romp around the living room with anyone under the two sides above.
